Why Australia

Why Study in Australia?

Four reasons students and families choose an Australian education — each one backed by official sources, not slogans.

Globally recognised qualifications

Degrees sit on the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and are recognised by employers and universities worldwide.

A system built to protect you

Providers must be CRICOS-registered and meet the ESOS Act. TEQSA and ASQA oversee quality, and the Tuition Protection Scheme safeguards your fees.

World-class universities, real choice

42 universities — nine in the QS World Top 100 for 2027 — plus TAFE institutes, pathway colleges and English centres.

Study, work and live well

Work up to 48 hours a fortnight in term and unlimited hours in scheduled breaks, in cities ranked among the world's best for students.

Study Options: From English Courses to PhD

Whatever your starting point, there is a recognised route into an Australian qualification.

Typically three years, four with honours. Main intakes in February/March and July.

Postgraduate

Master's degrees

One to two years, by coursework or research, across every major field of study.

Research

Scholarships & Funding

Your Australian Degree Could Cost Less Than You Think.

Most Australian universities offer merit-based scholarships and tuition reductions for international students. Each university decides its own criteria, and values change from year to year — which is exactly why it helps to have someone check the current options for your profile.

  • We match scholarships to your profile and university shortlist
  • We check criteria, deadlines and how each application works
  • We help you prepare a strong scholarship application

Curtin University

John Curtin Global Excellence Scholarship: 40% off tuition · Curtin Global Merit Scholarship: 20% off tuition (2027–2028 entry, assessed automatically).

Deakin University

Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship: 100% or 50% of tuition · Deakin International Scholarship: 25% of tuition.

Macquarie University

Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship: up to AUD 10,000 towards tuition (one-off fee reduction).

Examples only, as published by each university in October 2026. Scholarship availability, value and eligibility are determined by the university and may change. MultiPath never promises a scholarship outcome.

Questions, Answered

Planning Your Studies in Australia.

Practical answers to the questions students and parents ask us most. Something else on your mind? Ask us in your free consultation.

How much does it cost to study in Australia?

Tuition fees are set by each university and course, so they vary widely. For the student visa, the Department of Home Affairs currently asks for evidence of at least AUD 29,710 for twelve months of living costs, plus Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the whole stay. In your consultation we help you budget realistically and compare universities on cost as well as fit.

Can I work while studying in Australia?

Yes. Student visa holders can usually work up to 48 hours per fortnight while their course is in session and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks, subject to the conditions of their visa. Research master's and PhD students generally have no work-hour limit.

When are the intakes, and when should I apply?

Most universities start in late February or March, with a second intake in July; some providers run three trimesters a year and English courses start throughout the year. Start planning 6–12 months before your intended intake so there is time for applications, scholarships and the visa process.

Do I need IELTS or another English test?

Most courses and the student visa require evidence of English, for example IELTS, TOEFL iBT or PTE Academic. Requirements differ by course and by your circumstances, and English-plus-pathway packages exist if your score is not there yet. We check what applies to you.

Which Australian universities can MultiPath help me apply to?

We work with the universities and education providers shown in our network above — from Group of Eight universities to career-focused colleges and pathway providers. If the university you have in mind is not listed, ask us; we can usually help.

Are scholarships available for international students?

Yes. Most Australian universities offer merit-based scholarships or tuition reductions for international students, typically between 10% and 50% of fees. Each university sets its own criteria and the values change yearly, so we check the current options for your profile. Nobody can guarantee a scholarship outcome.

Can MultiPath help with the Australian student visa?

Yes, as part of your education journey. Once you hold an offer we guide you through the current requirements and help you prepare your documents. The decision is made by the Department of Home Affairs; the visa application charge is from AUD 2,500 for applications lodged from 1 July 2026.

I haven't chosen a university or course yet. Can I still get a consultation?

Absolutely — that is the most common starting point. Tell us your goals, background and budget, and your consultant will shortlist universities, cities and pathways with you. The consultation is free and there is no obligation.
