Skilled Independent (189) visa
To apply for this visa, you’ll need to be working in a job on the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and be able to meet the skill assessment requirements for your occupation. Eligibility for the 189 visas is based on a point score, taking into account age, qualifications, work experience and English competence.
Skilled – Nominated (190) visa
Applications under the 190 State Sponsored Visa category are subject to a points test based on a variety of factors. Applicants who apply for a 190 State Sponsored visa are awarded an additional five points for selecting this option. Although a permanent visa, it is a condition of state sponsorship that you reside in the sponsoring state for the first two years of your residence in Australia.
Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa
Substituting 489 visa, this is a skilled migration (points tested) visa which requires either state government nomination, or sponsorship by an eligible family member who is settled in a designated regional area. The age limit for this visa is 45 and you must have a positive skills assessment.
