Private colleges and English schools in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth offering English courses, vocational qualifications (Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) and some higher-education degrees. They suit students who want job-ready skills, a lower-cost start or intensive English before a degree.
Before you choose a college
- Check the qualification. Vocational courses lead to AQF certificates and diplomas, not degrees. Some diplomas give credit into a bachelor’s at a partner university: ask for the credit in writing.
- English-only study. A student visa for a stand-alone English course has its own conditions, and English courses do not count towards the graduate visa.
- Graduate visa after a vocational course. The Post-Vocational Education Work stream needs a qualification closely related to an occupation on the skilled list and a skills assessment: check this before you enrol.
- Fees and promotions. College prices change often and promotions are short: the profile gives the published price and the date it applies to.
